Student Teacher Tracking Document (LJMU ITT TRACKER)

Student teachers are no longer required to complete an ITT Tracker.

Student teachers should be proactively engaged in their own development. They should be increasingly more confident and competent at evaluating and reflecting on their professional development and practice.

'Exceptional' student teachers will show characteristics of actively seeking mentor's advice and guidance, and are able to successfully monitor their own progress and development.

What is the Purpose of the LJMU ITT Tracker?

The LJMU ITT Tracker contains descriptors for each Teachers’ Standard. It also contains audit pages where student teachers log final evidence to support the confirmation of their achievement of each of the Standards.

The descriptors are designed to provide a minimum expectation (benchmark) in the assessment of student teachers against the Teachers’ Standards. This promotes parity across the LJMU partnership in the end point assessment of QTS on all programmes.

How ITT Mentors should use the LJMU ITT Tracker:

  • From Phase 3, use the LJMU ITT Tracker benchmark statements 'formatively' to discuss progress and 'summatively' at the mid and final review points, in order to give a fair and consistent evaluation of progress towards a recommendation for Qualified Teacher Status.

All student teachers must demonstrate the minimum benchmark for each standard, prior to the award of QTS.
