Progress Over Time

Mentoring and coaching are pivotal aspects of the student teacher ITE journey. This section of the website houses the key documentation that you will use weekly to support your student teacher. Here you will find the Lesson Analysis Form and the Weekly Record Form. Phase Review forms will be available on Abyasa and guidance will be provided at each review point.

The Lesson Analysis Form is used to structure feedback and guide target setting; this informs and is informed by the weekly meeting with your student teacher. The weekly meeting provides a dialogic opportunity for reflection, feedback and SHARP target-setting.

Agreed target(s) are the focus of the lesson and each formative teaching episode provides opportunities for student teachers to practise and rehearse refining subject and pedagogical knowledge and understanding.

As expert practitioners, your approach to mentoring and coaching facilitates the incremental development towards acquiring ‘the core body of knowledge, skills and behaviours that define great teaching’ (p,4 ITT ECF).

The LAFs and Weekly Meeting Record and Target Setting document the ITE journey for LJMU student teachers. It is joyful to observe the development of knowledge and understanding from Phase 1 through to Phase 3 alongside the holistic development from novice teacher to Early Career Teacher.
