If you are new to mentoring or have mentored before but are new to LJMU, please attend the live phased training for all mentors alongside your choice of asynchronous training outlined below. The asynchronous modules will help you to become familiar with our LJMU ITE curriculum. You can claim up to 16 hours of DfE funding.
In order to claim DfE funding for General Mentor training 2026-27, the relevant mentor training should be completed by the 31st May 2027 when the funding window closes.
Live Training
This training is held online and Teams links will be sent via the Programme Leader on weekly Mentor Memos. These are also housed in section B. This phase specific training and development will form the basic training offer for all our LJMU General Mentors and will helps us to support student teachers as they progress through their programmes.
Asynchronous Training
For new mentors and those new to LJMU, you can claim funding for up to 16 hours of training. In addition to the six hours of live training hosted on Teams and detailed above, we also have a diverse and exciting mentor development offer housed on our Abyasa platform. The modules here are designed to help you support different aspects of our LJMU ITE curriculum relevant to our student teachers. These modules are asynchronous and can be tackled in any order.
