All student teachers are expected to demonstrate Part 2 of the Teachers' Standards from the outset. We expect our student teachers to make the education of their pupils their first concern and the partnership holds them accountable for achieving the highest possible standards in work and conduct.
We expect LJMU student teachers to act with honesty and integrity; have strong subject knowledge, keep their knowledge and skills as teachers up-to-date, be self-critical; forge positive professional relationships; and work with parents in the best interests of all their pupils.
Evidencing the Teachers' Standards
The expectation is that all of the Teachers’ Standards will be evidenced by the end of the Programme, through effective planning, teaching and assessing and the forming of positive relationships with staff and pupils. Evidence for each standard should arise organically from increasing competence in the classroom and from the range of experiences which each programme provides, both within schools and through University taught content. The Audit sections of the LJMU ITT Tracker allow student teachers to log significant evidence so that they can use it to support discussions about their progress, including at the final triangulation review and confirmation of QTS.
