Some student teachers may be able to eligible for a contribution towards their travel expenses whilst undertaking a block placement as part of their programme of study. This does NOT apply to Students on repeat placement, PG ITT students in receipt of a bursary or to any School Led Student Teachers for whom lead schools receive a significant proportion of the student fee and who are normally placed in a limited geographical area.
Contributions will be paid based on a set daily rate for the number of days student teachers are on placements.
The set daily rate to a placement school will be £3.00 per day. Student teachers need to the MyLJMU absence portal with any absences to avoid any overpayment N.B. Any overpayment will be reduced at the next pay point or reclaimed through finance.
The WBL team will process payments through the LJMU student payment portal, once the WBL team have raised the payment, student teachers who are eligible for travel contribution will receive an email advising them to provide their bank details using the portal. Our central finance team will process the payment on completion of all information.
Payment for eligible postgraduate students will be issued during the year as follows:
- First week of December payment will cover the period Sept-Dec 2024
- The First week of March payment will cover the period from Jan-Feb 2025
- The Fouth week of May payment will cover the period from Mar-June 2025
Payment for undergraduate students will be processed during the fourth week of placement. For Nov to Dec 2024 period and at the end of January for Jan-Feb 2025 period.
Please note: Student teachers who withdraw from the programme or request a leave of absence will be required to repay any overpayment of travel contribution.
Some ITT student teachers may be able to claim a contribution towards their travel expenses whilst undertaking a Block Placement as part of their programme of study. This does NOT apply to PG ITT students in receipt of a bursary or to any School Direct Student Teachers for whom lead schools receive a significant proportion of the student fee and who are normally placed in a limited geographical area.
